The Dancing Baby (not that creepy one from Ally McBeal!)

We're home from Las Vegas with an absolute s**t tonne of baby stuff!! Every time we walked past a shop that had kids stuff in, we came out with another bag!! We bought 17 babygrow's, 4 pairs of Converse, 2 Teddys and 7 bibs amongst others! I made a wee Flipagram video, which you can find on my profile by clicking the orange link, because I had time to kill the other night! It's the one that's starts with the image of Dumbo!!

We went for our 20 week/Fetal Anomaly Scan today. Caroline was a bit apprehensive I think, worried because the sonographers would be actively looking for any abnormalities that might be present in our little one. I am pleased to say that everything appears to be completely normal and baby is growing as expected at this stage.
It was more difficult for Caroline to see what was going on because she was lying on the bed, but I got a good view of everything. It was utterly fascinating to watch the sonographers at work. And the detail shown on the screen was incredible! - They asked us if we would like to know the sex of the baby, but we declined. As Geri put it, "It's like getting your Christmas presents early then wrapping them up again!" - and to be honest I couldn't see anything in that department anyway, they could have told us and showed us and I would still have been like "Yeah, ok if you say so, I'll stick with the things I can actually see, like the head and legs!"
Caroline started to feel a bit iffy halfway through the scan, but the nurse explained that this was because she was lying on her back, which she hasn't done for nearly five months, and the baby was squashing an artery which pumps blood back up from her feet to her heart.
One thing they did mention was that baby was lying "flex breech" (I'll be spending tonight Googling what this is and any potential problems that could arise from this). However, the nurse did say that it's not a problem right now as baby still has a potential 19 weeks to go and therefore has plenty of time to move position, but if it's still the case at full term, it could be an issue.
That aside though, they said baby looked very comfortable in there, and was a little mover! Every time they thought they were going to get a decent photo, s/he would wriggle about and pull off some dance moves!
Next midwife appointment is in 10 days, so I'll hopefully have more details from the scan then!

And lastly, we're going to Mamas & Papas tomorrow night (if the snow holds off) to start buying furniture for the nursery, pram, car seat and all sorts of other cool stuff - I'm getting a Morph (Yeah, I'm gonna be one of those guys!)

But chances are high I'll look more like this...

Than this...

Vegas Baby

So far so good on the trip to Las Vegas! Baby Irvine has made a marked appearance on Caroline and is wriggling about at all hours.
Apparently s/he loves it when Caz is playing on the Batman & Robin slot machine, must be her lucky charm as she won $356 the other night. Not bad for a 50 cent bet!!
Also, baby had a rare time when we went to see Diana Ross in concert last night too
Food wise, the restaurants have been really good with Caroline, altered parts of menu to suit her needs etc, although I think she was a bit miffed last night when she couldn't have any of the bourbon ice cream that came with the dessert we shared!
We've purchased a decent amount of baby clothes in the shops, this one is one of my favourites so far!!
Off out again tonight, venturing to an Italian restaurant off strip to celebrate my last night as a 30 year old, and to start carb loading for the 5 & 10k runs I'll be participating in over the weekend before we head home. Wish me luck!!

I Get A Kick Out Of You (see what I did there?)

How do everyone?!
Apologies for the late blog, it's been a bit quiet on the baby front of late.
Work has been hectic. Elvis is on holiday through in Glasgow staying with our friend Chris for the week (he was not impressed with the car journey, spent most of his time huddled on his bunny loo giving me evils in the rear view mirror!)
and we've kind of been preoccupied with getting ready for our last big vacation/"Baby's Day Out" (awesome movie btw, why is it not on the flight?) Currently, we are somewhere over Canada, 38001 feet in the air, flying towards Las Vegas ✈️πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
I guess I have time write a new post now cos there's sod all else to do. Caroline is sifting through some trashy magazine she picked up at the airport because it had a free mascara (obviously didn't get mascara at the MAC counter I was dragged to then) and Granny and Grandad are having a nap in the row behind us! I've watched all the good movies!! (More on that later...)

So, as you may have guessed from the post title, I got to properly feel the baby kick today!! Just a couple of wee bumps, but enough for me to know that someone is definitely in there!
Caroline first felt it last week and now she knows what's she's looking for has been feeling it a lot ever since. She describes it as like drinking a can of soda on an empty stomach, the way it bubbles away.
Just before I started watching Jurassic World, Caz grabbed my hand and thrust it towards her slightly expanded tummy ("It seems to be growing by the minute" she said earlier!) I placed my hand on her wee bump and there it was, clear as day, a couple of little nudges on the palm of my hand, somewhere over Iceland. Maybe a sign that the baby will share our dinosaur obsession - Remember the wedding?  Lovely Other Dinosaurs anyone?! They're in my suitcase btw, for various photo ops!
It made me feel a bit more emotional than I already was, having just watched Fast & Furious 7  - I missed it at the cinema as Caroline is resisting my attempts to get her to watch the box set with me. It will happen though! I'm not ashamed to say I almost shed a tear at the end, a great tribute to Paul Walker 😭. Nothing will top the feeling of those nudges on my hand... For now at least!
Over and out for now, I'll aim for at least a couple of posts this week to document being pregnant in Las Vegas. Let's be honest, it's only gonna happen the once!
